history of the museum building

The Keno Mining Museum is proudly housed in Jackson Hall, a historic building constructed in 1922 that once served as Keno City’s bustling community hub. For over 40 years, this cherished hall hosted everything from dances and movie nights to badminton matches and bingo games, creating a lively space for locals, miners, and visitors to gather and connect.

In 1979, restoration began with support from the Department of Tourism, ensuring the preservation of this important landmark. Further renovations between 1991 and 1994 transformed Jackson Hall into the museum it is today. Now, the building stands as a tribute to Keno City’s rich mining history, showcasing the gold and silver boom that shaped the community and its surroundings in the early 20th century.
